Tara was a covert meditator, and observed other forms of spiritual practice for many years, before she discovered Vipassana meditation in 2011. Through a friend she found Jonathan Foust’s class to deal with her son’s depression and anxiety, and realized it helped her own suffering as well. As an alumni of Jonathan Foust’s The Year of Living Mindfully program (YLM), she is currently a YLM mentor, and co-facilitates Jonathan Foust’s post-dharma talk Discussion Group. She is also training to be a leader of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) at Frederick Memorial Hospital and has finished her Masters’ in Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching at the Maryland University of Integrative Health.
Tara has attended Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW) day-long and weekend retreats taught by Tara Brach, Jonathan Foust, Sharon Salzburg and Stan Eisenstein. Tara has also been part of the same Spiritual Friends Group for three years and co-leads another in her mentor role with YLM. She attended her first weeklong silent meditation retreat through the YLM program in Feb 2020. Tara has been inspired by her formal and informal studies of self-compassion, positive psychology, functional medicine, Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, mindful eating, Vipassana meditation, Buddhist psychology and coaching for behavioral change, to name a few. Tara is inspired to share her varied wisdom and help others find their own inner wisdom.
