Sam Cooper

Sam Cooper was first exposed to Buddhism in high school, at the Tibetan temple outside his hometown of Poolesville, MD. After college, he studied Zen—his first introduction to formal meditation. In the years since, he has transitioned to practicing insight (vipassana) meditation, and has begun teaching as well. Having experienced for himself the transformative and healing power of meditation, and inspired by the tenets “engaged Buddhism,” Sam takes a pan-tradition approach in sharing the deep benefits of practice with others for the potential benefit of all beings on the planet. Sam is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work at University of Maryland. He also is a songwriter and musician, and makes meditation-inspired drawings and paintings.
