Real Love is a creative tool kit of mindfulness exercises and meditation techniques that help you to truly engage with your present experience and create deeper love relationships with yourself, your partner, friends and family, and with life itself.”

Real Love is the latest book from one of my favorite meditation teachers, Sharon Salzberg. And what timing! There is no time like the present to learn what real love is—for yourself, your family, and your community. If you have ever felt trapped in what Tara Brach calls the “trance of unworthiness,” this book will help you find your way through to the other side. If you feel pulled in too many directions, and too drained to connect with others in a meaningful way, the tools in Real Love will help you build resilience and open your heart to those who are most precious. And in this ever divisive world we live in, if you feel disconnected from community and hopeless about the future of humanity, you will find some helpful techniques to build compassion even in difficult times.

This Real Love Book Discussion and Practice Group will give us all the chance to share what really matters to us from the teachings. We’ll also try out the book’s recommended meditation techniques in a group setting. The goal is that each group member will leave feeling more ready to love and be loved!

What You Need To Do Before The First Gathering….

Register for the Real Love Book Discussion & Practice Group and get a copy of the book, which is available at a 20% discount from Frederick’s local book store, Curious Iguana. You may also purchase it from Amazon and other booksellers.

Each week we will discuss one section of this three-part book, and practice key exercises to cultivate real love—for ourselves and others. It is recommended that you read Section 1: “Beyond the Cliché, prior to the first meeting. The second meeting we will discuss Section 2: “Love Is a Verb,” and at the third meeting we will close with Section 3: “The Wide Lens of Compassion.”
