This election cycle has been a time of high anxiety for everyone. On Election Night, it can be all too easy to get swept up in the stress of being glued to the TV or computer screen, tracking the election results under a barrage of commentary from talking heads. But why not turn off the returns and turn inward instead? After casting your vote, join Sam Cooper to find refuge from election anxiety in mindfulness meditation practice and supportive community.

Please Support This Class With Your Donation.
Teachers of donation-based classes are not paid a wage, but instead rely on donations from students for support. Teachers in turn offer a donation to the Frederick Mediation Center to help with rent and utilities. For less than a meal out, you can receive valuable teachings that will last a lifetime!
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. $20 Benefactor, $10 Sustainer, $5 Student/Scholarship. Learn how your donation supports the Frederick Meditation Center and how we can serve any member of the community regardless of financial means.
About Sam Cooper
Sam Cooper was first exposed to Buddhism in high school, at the Tibetan temple outside his hometown of Poolesville, MD. After college, he studied Zen–his first introduction to formal meditation. In the years since, he has transitioned to practicing insight (vipassana) meditation, and now leads art and mindfulness classes. Having experienced for himself the transformative and healing power of meditation, and inspired by the tenets “engaged Buddhism,” Sam hopes to share the deep benefits of practice with others for the good of all beings on the planet. Sam is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Social Work at University of Maryland. He is also an active songwriter and musician, and makes meditation-inspired drawings and paintings.
